So… Art and Dan and I were sitting around the park chatting (always a dangerous proposition). Looks like the women-folk are going out to spend all their hard earned cash on a wild night of dinner and drinks (but >>NO< < Chipindales – or so they claim ;) They are heading off to the monthly “Mom’s Night Out”. The date? Tomorrow night – Saturday – at 6 pm (contact Rochelle mydearrosie@yahoo.com for more info).
Well, this sort of left us in a pickle. Being that we are the other (better) half, the responsibility of our chill’uns falls to us. Now then, what can dads do to show our little ones what fantastic parents we are and impress our wives?
Pizza and ice cream came to mind. Well, why not sez I? We can bring all the kids up to Lake Anza and enjoy an early evening of pizza and running around. So the plan, as far as I can tell, is to order a few pizzas from Zachary’s (what’s not to like), bring some drinks and maybe some ice cream, and head up to Lake Anza around 5:30 pm.
For those who do not know, Lake Anza is free any time after 5:50 or 6. Bob, Art, Dan and I have been up there a number of times with our precious cargo and always had a great (and SAFE!) time with them. Max asks to go at least twice a day. As long as the weather is not totally overcast, it is nice to be up there even if we do not go in the water.
So I say we do this: Gather at the tot-lot @ 4:30 to see who all is going (and if we are going). We can decide at that point how many pizzas and what other things we need to bring. I suggest we all pre-pack bathing stuff if the weather seems nice so the moms do not have to help us (give them an extra little break no?)
I have been up there with Max with nothing but a towel and a change of cloths and been fine. The lake is all of 15 minutes from our door so worst comes to worst you can toss your child in the car and be home for warmth and “real” food in a jiffy.
